We open on Wednesday 3rd April 2019 & close on Sunday 3rd November 2019.

Please find below news items from 2011 :

31st December 2011

Another comparatively mild week however this has meant plenty of damp and dismal days.  The wind has also remained a feature for the majority of the week.  The start of the new year looks set for more of the same.

25th December 2011

Merry Christmas.

(West Runton beach 25/12/11)

17th – 24th December 2011

A week of extremes; Saturday saw a very hard frost to start the day and on Sunday we saw our first snowfall of the winter.  The remainder of the week was a mixture of rain, wind and sunshine with the temperature gradually rising as the week progressed.

10th – 17th December 2011

Yet another uninspiring week weather wise.  The week has mainly consisted of either rain or frost, neither of which are pleasant to be out working in.  With more unsettled weather on the way we say “roll on Christmas”!

3rd – 10th December 2011

This week’s weather can be summed up in four words; brisk, blowy, damp and horrible.  Suffice to say it has not been a ‘wish you were here’ week!

26th November – 3rd December 2011

The working week started and finished on a rather chilly note, with our first frost of the winter – the good news is that the caravans have all been drained down, so no issues there.  Mid week proved milder but with the milder air came the rain – proving you can’t have it all ways!

Never-the-less this week has been an extremely productive one.  Our three new hire caravans have been delivered and duly sited.  (Once they’re all unpacked we’ll post some pictures online).  Work has also commenced in preparation for the installation of WIFI, we will keep you updated of our progress.  Also on the subject of technological advances; the digital change over has actually happened and all seems to be going to plan.  Fingers crossed for a perfect service (and Channel 5!) when we re-open in the Spring.

19th – 26th November 2011

A very typical November week; a bit of sun, a bit of fog, a bit of rain, a bit of calm and today a bit of wind.  However, the blustery conditions did lend themselves to some good, colourful cloudscapes around sunset.

23rd November 2011

Yesterday was a particularly disappointing day, it started foggy and got worse as the day progressed with the fog giving way to quite persistent rain for the majority of the remainder of the working day.  Overnight temperatures remained fairly low however this morning we were rewarded with a really beautiful sunrise.

(23rd November 7.00 am, 3°c)

20th November 2011

After a bright sunrise the fog drifted in obliterating everything, however, after lunch the sunshine managed to break through resulting in a glorious afternoon perfect for a stroll along the beach.

With the sun setting and the fog coming in again it was definitely time to go home.....

12th – 19th November 2011

Not a bad week at all - damp most mornings but still fairly mild with a mix of mist and sunshine throughout the week.

5th November – 12th November 2011

After a windy start to the week the wind finally abated but we were left with dull, damp and dismal days leading up to the weekend.

Friday was a particularly unpleasant day as not only was it dull and damp but it was really quite cold.  Saturday morning arrived and could not have been more different no wind, no damp, really mild and the sun was actually shining.  With a good forecast for tomorrow it looks like a good weekend ahead.

6th November 2011

“The North Wind doth blow” - a very blustery day indeed, as you can see from the picture below;

29th October – 5th November 2011

The first week of the closed season started well, bright and dry, and we were able to make great progress in draining down the caravans.  We were even able to move no less than five caravans!

As the week progressed, however, the weather deteriorated and rain set in, hampering progress.  Don’t worry there were still plenty of other indoor jobs to keep us busy…… draining down the shower blocks, ditto the laundry room and chemical toilet, packing up the shop, stock taking, etc …….

Still not everybody was disappointed with the rain;

22nd – 29th October 2011

Not a bad week to finish on, with only Wednesday morning proving a damp, dismal disappointment, still the rest of the week was great!

28th October 2011

Another bright morning;

27th October 2011

We have been pruning the hedges and trees around site and have amassed a large bonfire.  To end the season with a bang several families on Park gathered together to light the bonfire and let off a few fireworks to celebrate the end of another season.

(Fun & food in the Laundry Room!)

24th October 2011

Another beautiful morning.

15th – 22nd October 2011

Another very pleasant week – ideal for walking.  Yet again we have been lucky with the majority of the inclement weather arriving after nightfall.  A good weekend is forecast but rain may be on its way mid week.

There have been plenty of stunning sunrises during the week, as the photograph below illustrates.

(Sunrise 22/10/11 - 8.00 am).

Annual Dinner - 15th October 2011

Another very successful and enjoyable evening was had by all at the newly refurbished Links Hotel, in the village.

The theme of the evening was the forthcoming 2012 London Olympics and this was reflected in both the table decorations and table quiz.  The quiz generated the usual conversation and discussion with Table 1 (Athletes) winning with a score of 12½, they were closely followed by Table 5 (Swimmers) with 11½.  Table 6 (Divers) were a close third with a ‘non-googled’ score of 10½ - very impressive indeed.

Below are a few photographs of the evening’s festivities;

8th – 15th October 2011

A mild start to the week which was spoilt by a rather wet Wednesday.  The remainder of the week was much milder and got better and better as we moved towards the weekend.

The week finished with bright sunshine with more forecast for Sunday.

1st – 8th October 2011

A week of extremes - the remainder of the weekend and the early part of the week were sunny and unseasonably hot.  By Wednesday the breeze picked up but temperatures still remained well above normal, as even the breeze was warm.  By Thursday morning the wind direction had changed and it was decidedly ‘seasonal’, with even a few showers, by the time Friday arrived it was unpleasantly chilly with a biting cold wind.

Things were only marginally better on Saturday.

This week’s summary – two seasons in one week – Summer and (sadly) Winter!

2nd October 2011

“Oh what a beautiful morning!”

1st October 2011

The week finished in a blaze of colour.

24th September – 1st October 2011

What a week – sun, sun, sun, sun, sun, sun and a bit more sun! Happy Days!

30th September 2011

Its been warm all night; 6.00am and the sun is already shining.

29th September 2011

Another fabulous day; 6.00pm and still warm – 27 °c warm!

(picture taken by Laura Askew).

27th September 2011

Sunset 27th September  6.15pm

17th – 24th September 2011

Another reasonable week with our only real rain falling over night.  A good week for sunrises and sunsets and perfect walking weather with a mini heat-wave on the horizon it’s beginning to look like an Indian Summer after all!

19th September 2011

Now we are reaching the end of the season the days are definitely getting shorter and it is definitely Autumn; a good indication of this is where the sun sets; the picture below clearly illustrate the fact as the setting sun hasn’t even cleared Beeston Bump -

18th September 2011

Contrary to the forecast Sunday started brightly, the first sign of rain was at 2 o’clock in the form of a brief shower…….

Morning 18th September  8.30am

As part of the ongoing ‘Forties Weekend’ we are usually lucky enough to get our own free air show however this year the show was restricted to a very high fly-by by a Hurricaine, however, as a consolation we were provided with a spectacular high speed pass by from the Air Ambulance.

10th – 17th September 2011

Despite the effects of the tail end of Hurricane Katia we got off extremely lightly – obviously we were still affected by the strong winds which were with us at the end of last week but these remained strangely warm until mid week when things freshened but thankfully not before the wind dropped to a breeze.

All in all another pleasant week – a predicable description but the weather for the past few weeks has remained pretty much the same – mixed but with more good than bad!

Saturday marked the start of the ‘Forties Weekend’ on the North Norfolk Railway so Sheringham, Weybourne and Holt were transported back to wartime 1940’s, with shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs joining in with the fun.

Saturday also saw the return of the relay teams competing in the Round Norfolk Relay, with a steady stream of runners jogging through the caravan site;

For more information visit : www.roundnorfolkrelay.co.uk

Despite the weekend weather forecast being really foul Saturday has proven once again never believe the forecasters as the ‘foul weather’ amounted to one rather heavy shower!

13th September 2011

Another bright and breezy day gave way to several heavy showers after lunch.  We were rewarded however with a splendid double rainbow;

12th September 2011

A very bright and very, very breezy day!

Charity News

We have had a sponsor form in the shop recently for Niall McCallum.  Niall has been raising money for the RNLI by competing in this year’s Ironman Wales, which was on Sunday 11th September in Tenby.

Several of his sponsors have been enquiring how he did and I am pleased to advise that it is all good news and that he successfully completed the course.  Niall was hoping to complete his first ever Ironman in under 13 hours – something which he easily managed, below is a copy of the poster which is currently on our notice-board celebrating his achievements!

3rd – 10th September 2011

As has been the trend in recent weeks we have had another week of variable weather.  Despite pessimistic forecasts we have been lucky with the rain, with the exception of one rather damp morning, in the fact that most showers have been at the end of the day enabling everybody to get out and about this week.

The wind has been increasing in strength throughout the week however it has been a surprising warm wind as it has been coming up from the south west (as opposed to off the sea).  The only disappointment this week really has been the lack of prolonged sunshine.

However as a consolation with the late showers have come some rather dramatic sunsets with plenty of interesting cloud formations, as are illustrated by the pictures below;

(Sunset 5th September  7.45pm - taken by Cameron Askew).

Sunset 11th September  7.30pm, with an almost full Moon (below) taken at the same time.

27th August – 3rd September 2011

The last week of the Summer Holidays.  Again we have had a mixed bag of weather but all in all not too bad with the week finishing on a high with a couple of real beach days.

31st August 2011

The last day of Summer, meteorologically speaking, started as a bright and breezy one.  With the new moon on Monday came high tides, with this morning’s being the highest at 5.6 metres and reaching the bottom of the cliffs in places;

28th August 2011

Fluffy fledgling swallows pictured on site early this morning;

The evening high tide produced some impressive surf - this shot was taken from the beach and is of the sea breaking against the sea wall at West Runton.

20th – 27th August 2011

Another week of weather extremes with hot and sunny versus near monsoon showers;  when it was been nice this week it has been very, very nice but when it hasn’t it’s been horrid!

22nd August 2011

Another glorious day, even our resident Sparrow-hawk was caught basking in the sun;

21st August 2011

The day started with a big storm out at sea, thunder rumbled and several large forks of lightening lit up the sky – we escaped with only a shower or two and by the afternoon it was wall to wall sunshine again.

13th – 20th August 2011

Not a bad week at all with plenty of ‘summery’ weather with the exception of Thursday afternoon which was rather damp.

All in all another good Cromer Carnival Week.

Below are a few more photographs of the Red Arrows, viewed from the Park, taken by one of our owners Rupert Smith.

19th August 2011

This year saw 20 golfers competing for honours, a slightly depleted field due to the late change in date, but never-the-less still as fiercely contested as ever!

The weather was perfect for the event being warm and sunny with only a light breeze.

Defending Individual Champion Andy Miller was able to attend to defend his title so all eyes were on him.  Despite all the added attention Andy wasn’t fazed and was able to retain his crown with an impressive score of 40.

Following a hard fought competition the Individual standings for the 'top ten' were as follows;

Andy Miller                    40

Norman Anderson       35

Paul Marler                   35

Fred Askew                   34

Mandy Handscombe  33

Brian Saunders              33

Neal Hillier                     32

Nigel Marler                  31

Brian Dixon                    31

Rupert Smith                 30

Congratulations to one and all.

Due to numbers this year’s Team Event was replaced by a Pairs competition.  The ‘Winning Pair’ were, unsurprisingly, Andy Miller and Paul Marler with a score of 48.  Second place went to Fred Askew and Nigel Marler (43) with Norman Anderson and Brian Saunders (42) taking third place.

We also held our usual ‘Nearest the Pin’ competition, this year won by Norman Anderson, and the ‘Longest Drive’ competition, was also very nearly won by Norman but he was pipped late in the day by Paul Marler.  Congratulations goes to both of them.

The day was finished by a meal in the clubhouse and prize-giving ‘ceremony’.

Après Golf drinks on the terrace.

Victorious Pairs Champions Andy Miller and Paul Marler, (with Andy also taking the Individual title).

Finally we would like to thank everybody at Sheringham Golf Club for allowing us to host our event there; special thanks also go to the catering staff for their hospitality.

17th August 2011

Cromer Carnival Day – another stunning performance by the Red Arrows, well the Red & One Black Arrow to be precise!

Photographs by Rosie McInally-Gibbs

The day finished off nicely with a splendid, fiery orange sunset.

14th August 2011

A much, much better day – little wind, warm with long sunny intervals, topped off with a stunning sunset – what could be better?

6th – 13th August 2011

The best word to describe this week’s weather is possibly ‘uninspiring’, with conditions ranging from dismal to brief sunny intervals.  It has also been breezy this week however on the up side this has produced some spectacular seas, as you can from the pictures below (which were taken on Wednesday at around 5.30 pm on West Runton beach) of children having fun braving the waves;

We have all got our fingers crossed for the coming week, Cromer Carnival Week, and are hoping that it will follow the pattern of weather thus this holiday of poor, good, poor……

30th July – 6th August 2011

The best week of the holidays so far and a complete contrast with last week with Thursday being the only bad day of the week!

Families have been trekking down to the beach on a daily basis enjoying the sun and sea.

The forecast for the coming week seems more unsettled but we’ll have to wait and see.

(Children enjoying themselves on the beach at 9.30pm Wednesday 3rd August 2011; pictures courtesy of the Thomas family).

23rd – 30th July 2011

As predicated there were strong winds for the early part of the week – the anticipated lull arrived on Thursday which was the best and only really good day of the week.  The brisk weather returned for Friday and Saturday morning was rather subdued too.

On the positive side at least there was no rain!

28th July 2011

What could be better? The wind has died down, the sun is shining and the Chip Van has arrived!!

The Chip Van will be visiting every Thursday (12 o'clock - 1 o'clock) throughout the summer holidays.

The day just got better and better by 5.30 pm everyone was returning from a hot and exhausting afternoon on the beach.

A super sunset to end a super day….

(Sunset 28th July 8.30pm).

27th July 2011

A group of children, accompanied by their parents, walked to the top of Beeston Bump after tea in the hope of catching a glimpse of the stunts in the field below.  The congregation had a bird’s eye view of proceedings but they seemed more interested in the biscuits and hot chocolate that were on offer.........

24th July 2011

As predicted another very windy day but much brighter than Saturday – never-mind there are still plenty of things to do in the wind…….. Surfing?

or flying your kite to mention two!

By early evening the wind had abated and the sea was much calmer – awnings will be going up in the morning!

(Sunset 24th July 8.55 pm)

16th – 23rd July 2011

This week was really a ‘mixed bag’ as far as the weather went.  The week started with near monsoon like showers on Saturday but the following days were really quite nice, Thursday was showery but these were very localised so depending on where and when you went depended on whether you got soaked or not!  Friday was a bright and breezy affair with the week ending with very strong winds.

22nd July 2011

A very bright and breezy day today – the beginnings of a water spout were visible off East Runton around lunch-time and again we were treated to another fantastic sunset.

(Sunset 22nd July 9.05 pm)

20th July 2011

Despite the forecast of showers West Runton has got away with only one light shower over the last two days.  Here is tonight’s sunset to illustrate how pleasant it is this evening……

(Sunset 20th July 8.30 pm)

9th – 16th July 2011

This week has been a week of extremes weather wise.  Following Saturday’s thunder storm Sunday and the early part of the week were extremely pleasant with plenty of sunshine; however, things weren’t set to last as on Wednesday and Thursday things took a turn for the worst – far cooler than of late with wind and rain never far away.  Friday was much, much better and saw the return of the sunshine with temperatures rising too.

Saturday sadly saw the return of the rain with near monsoon conditions at times……. Showers are predicted for Sunday but things are set to improve for the coming week.

2nd – 9th July 2011

Another really nice week; pleasantly warm and spoilt only by a few sharp showers later in the week.

Saturday remained dry until tea-time when thunder and lightning raged above the park but as evening fell all was calm again by sunset.

6th July 2011

A very famous person spotted holidaying at Laburnum !!!!

5th July 2011

More lovely weather to shout about!

25th June – 2nd July 2011

Wow what a week!  After a slow start on Saturday the predicted heat-wave well and truly arrived on Sunday peaking at 32 °c.  Temperatures remained high for Monday but it was a far more humid and as the day wore on the heat became absolutely stifling; there was no respite during the night as temperatures remained high.

Thankfully on Tuesday a cooling mist descended giving everybody welcome relief from the heat.  By the time Wednesday arrived the mist had lifted and bright sunshine was the order of the day – this time without the searing heat!  Thursday saw more of the same, marred only by a shower around tea-time, but the day redeemed itself with a spectacular sunset.

Friday saw temperatures increasing again, but not to the heights of earlier in the week, with more of the same on Saturday.

This week we have seen our first Hummingbird Hawk Moths of the season – but as with last year they have been too swift to photograph, (we will keep trying though).

(9.30 pm 1/7/11 - red sky at night).

30th June 2011

The month of June went out in a blaze of glory…….

26th June 2011

The heat-wave has arrived – 21°c by 9.30 am and rising!

(if you look closely you can just make out a 'double horizon')

Midday; the temperature has risen to 27 °c.

As Sunday is practice day for the local Lifeboat Crews we were treated to the sight of both the inshore boat and the RNLB ‘Lester’ rendezvousing and then shadowing a group of kayaks back towards Cromer.

3.00 pm : 29 °c

5.00 pm : 32 °c

18th - 25th June 2011

Another really variable week; some very warm and sunny intervals punctuated with very sudden, sharp, heavy downpours.

The good news is that with the grass is now much greener and the farmers can start to relax a bit.

Temperatures are set to soar over the weekend with a mini heat wave forecast for Sunday into Monday – watch this space……..

11th – 18th June 2011

After the damp start to the week the sunshine returned to give us a few fabulous days – Tuesday being particularly pleasant (bright warm sunshine with a pleasing gentle breeze; deceptively hot with many people getting caught out with no sun-block on, there were quite literally red faces on Wednesday morning!).

Sadly as the week progressed the showers returned and became more frequent, still it was nice in between the showers.  At last the grass is beginning to turn green again.

At least the rain wasn’t all bad news – somebody seemed pleased!

Dates for your Diary

Please note : Due to circumstances beyond our control the Annual Golf Day will now be held on Friday 19th August not Friday 29th July, as previously advertised.  Invitation letters are due to be issued this week - if you would like to attend please contact the office.

Annual Dinner :  We are pleased to advise that, following its successful take over earlier this year, we will be holding our Annual Dinner at the Links Country Park Hotel on Saturday 15th October.  Menus and booking forms will be available from the office from Monday.  We do hope you will be able to attend.

12th June 2011

After a drop of rain in the night we have been rewarded with a stunning start to the day.

4th – 11th June 2011

Another reasonable week weather wise; sunshine with the odd light and very welcome shower.

After a damp end to the week the sun broke through just in time to provide another dramatic sunset.

28th May – 4th June 2011

As you can see from the other entries for this week we have had a fabulous half term holiday week.  The weekend was a little under par, as was Bank Holiday Monday, but following our first real rain for weeks on Monday night Tuesday set the trend for the rest of the week.

The children staying on site have had a brilliant week spending a large amount of time either on the beach or on the recreation field enjoying the sunshine.  (The children’s behaviour has been excellent and been commented on by many of our other guests – well done to them!).

The evenings have been warm and pleasant with daylight until almost 10 o’clock each night.  We’ve also been blessed with some wonderful sunsets.

Fingers crossed for more of same in July and August.

2nd June 2011

Another stunning day - the water is so calm and still that you can even see the sea-bed from the cliff top.

1st June 2011

A glorious start to the month.

31st May 2011

After a beautiful day came a beautiful sunset; pictured here at different stages and from various points around the park.

Paragliding at West Runton.

21st – 28th May 2011

We’ve had a real mixed bag of weather this week – wind then no wind, clouds with a few spots of rain then bright sunshine; overall not too bad really.

The forecast for the bank holiday weekend is for more of the same but getting progressively better through the week.

25th May 2011

The wind dropped during the night leaving us with a still bright morning, below are a few shots taken at around 8.30 am.

24th May 2011

Sunset.

14th – 21st May 2011

We have actually had a few showers but still nothing of real significance; fortunately the heavier showers have been during the night (but still not enough to revive the grass which remains brown and dry).

The best day of the week was Thursday which was a beautiful day, bright and sunny with a cooling breeze on the cliff top.

The Park is alive with bird life at the moment with fledgling Blackbirds and Starlings flopping all over the place.  There are also significant numbers of Sand Martins this year – add these to the Swallows, Swifts, Skylarks, Chaffinches, Thrushes, Blackbirds, Robins, etc, and the air has constantly been full of bird song.

The wind is set to increase through the weekend, with stronger winds forecast for the early part of the week, however there is still no significant rainfall forecast.

7th – 14th May 2011

Another fantastic week; rain threatened several times during the week but never really amounted to much.  The underlying trend has continued to be bright and breezy.

Saturday 14th did however produce a few showers but nothing of significance – the grass remains brown and dry and still looks more like August than May.

After the rain; Sunset, 8.40pm, 14th May 2011.

30th April – 7th May 2011

The week started as the previous week finished, cool and breezy, however as the week progressed the wind dropped and temperatures rose.  The week ended on a fabulous high with sweltering temperatures and baking sunshine - even the breeze was warm and dry.

The forecast rain barely reached us and amounted to less than a teaspoon at most.  The grass around the park is now parched and resembles what you might expect in the height of summer.  The blossom in the hedgerows has benefited from the heat and the evening air is heavy with its perfume.  The air is also filled with birdsong, with numerous skylarks in full voice high above the Park.

Another sign that nature thinks that summer is on its way has been the emergence of Maybugs (Cockchafer Beetles) which can be seen large numbers in the tree tops at dusk.

23rd – 30th April 2011

Still no real rain but the weather has been far more unsettled this week than of late.  Although the sun has still shone the temperature has been much cooler than that in previous weeks, as there has been a keen wind blowing off the sea for the majority of the week.  Despite this everybody has appeared to have had an enjoyable week – hopefully fully re-charging their batteries ready to get back to normal on Tuesday morning when the extended holiday period finally comes to an end.

Royal Wedding Day - 29th April 2011

The day started brilliantly.

7.00am

By 8.00am the decorations were well under way.

At 11.00am you could hear a pin drop............

6.15pm – the Park Royal-tea!

26th April 2011

We have had a bit of excitement this morning with an unexpected visitor in the shop – a grasshopper warbler.

25th April 2011

Much better day than yesterday, with no sign of mist or fog at all, however the stiff northerly breeze off the sea lent itself to a much fresher day than we have become accustomed to.  This did have an upside as it enabled the local paragliders to get airborne.

24th April 2011

First hiccup of the season – sea fog (at least it’s not smog).

Despite this the children have been out and about this morning participating in our usual Easter quiz hunting for clues and decorating eggs.

Below are the fruits of their labour;

These eggs were our judge's personal favourites;

16th - 23rd April 2011

A very busy but an absolutely amazing week, with glorious weather all week long.

It is now 6.40 pm and the sun is still shining with a great forecast for the rest of the Easter weekend.

19th April 2011

“Phew! What a Scorcher!”

With temperatures topping 21°c the children took the opportunity to have their first swim of the season. Here they are returning – wet but happy………

17th April 2011

A beautiful end to the weekend.

9th – 16th April 2011

Another lovely week marred only by a late afternoon shower early in the week and a mizzlie start on Saturday.  The forecast for the coming week is good so fingers crossed for Easter!

Sunset 16th April at 7.30 pm.

11th April 2011

The week started gloriously again but this afternoon the sky clouded over and the heavens opened.  Mind you by 7.30 pm this evening the rain had all but stopped and we were blessed with a beautiful fiery sunset.

2nd – 9th April 2011

What a start to the season we have had a fantastic week.  Plenty of owners were down for our opening day on Thursday with more following on Friday and yet more today.

The weather has been unseasonably kind with temperatures reaching over 23°c on Wednesday.  Since opening on Thursday it has been mild and sunny with the forecast good for the rest of the weekend.

Happy Days!

Sunset 9th April just after 7.00 pm.

3rd April 2011

A little taster of what you will be seeing of an evening once we open……..

26th March – 2nd April 2011

Despite thinking we should have built an Ark at the start of the week it actually turned out to be rather pleasant after all.  Plenty of sunshine – only spoilt marginally by the odd shower and a biting wind on occasion – all in all a really nice week.

The park is well on the way to being ready for our opening day, Thursday 7th April, when we look forward to the return of all of owners and visitors alike.

17th – 26th March 2011

Another brilliant working week; bright, sunny, warm and spring-like.  Sadly it was not to last as today, Saturday 26th, has seen nothing but constant rain (from 8.45am to dusk……).

12th – 19th March 2011

The week started off misty and cold, the sun did get out mid week but sadly the mists returned finishing the week off miserably.

14th March 2011

After a misty, frosty start to the working week the sun is once again shining – happy days!

The view over the Recreation field at 7.00am.

13th March 2011

Business as usual the grey skies have returned and so has the rain…….

5th – 12th March 2011

The best week of the year so far!  It has been a mainly dry bright week, with the exception of Wednesday afternoon.  There was a frosty start to the week with both Monday and Tuesday starting with a heavy frost however on both days this soon burnt off.  Wednesday proved slightly disappointing but Thursday saw the return of the sunshine and the spring like weather.  Friday was another bright cheerful day and Saturday finished the week off nicely, being possibly the best day of the week, if not the year.

Charity & Community News 2010

Over the course of the 2010 Season we continued to sell second-hand books and bric-a-brac in our shop, we also held our annual charity raffle.  The result of all this fund raising meant we were able to donate £360.00 to the East Anglian Air Ambulance Trust, £200.00 to Diabetes UK and £100.00 to the Macmillan Nurses on your behalf.  Thank you to everybody who has generously supported our fund raising efforts.

We will continue to sell books and bric-a-brac in the shop so please pop in and have a look.

Laura held a tombola to raise funds to repair the bridge on the climbing frame at her school, Gresham Village School.  With your help she was able to raise over £50.00 which covered the cost of repairs and has provided spares for future repairs.

Below is a picture of Laura on the repaired bridge.

Gresham Village School would also like to thank you for all the tokens you have collected for them over the last season, (especially to all of you who collected the Morrison’s ‘Lets Grow’ tokens – as a Park we donated nearly 500 tokens, equating to almost £5,000.00 worth of groceries!).  The school is currently collecting Sainsbury’s ‘Active Kids’ tokens so any spares you have would be gratefully received – Nestlé’s ‘Box Tops for Books’ are also always welcome.

7th March 2011

What a beautiful start to the working week.  There was a heavy early morning frost but by 7.00am the sun shining and had all but melted it away.  The birds are in good voice with chaffinches and skylarks competing to see who can make the most noise.

26th February – 5th March 2011

The cool weather which was forecast arrived but unfortunately it was not quite as dry as anticipated – with both a wet start and a wet finish to the week (but it was dry in the middle!).

27th February 2011

A crisp bright day at the coast;

19th - 26th February 2011

After an uninspiring start to half term week Thursday and Friday finally gave everybody something to cheer about.  Sadly as Friday evening loomed so did the rain clouds and it rained heavily all night and into Saturday morning.  Saturday remained damp for the majority of the day – with only a few brighter interludes.

This week’s milder weather is forecast to be replaced by cooler temperatures but it is due to be much drier over the coming week – so watch this space!

24th February 2011

After a pretty miserable start to half term week the sun has finally appeared.

Has Spring finally sprung? – this Common Frog (Grass Frog) certainly hops so!!!

After lunch, as it was such a beautiful and mild day, we took a stroll down to West Runton Beach – only to find we weren’t the only ones to have that idea!

A beautiful view from West Runton Beach looking towards Cromer Pier.

Fun and frolics on the beach!

The perfect end to a perfect day…..

12th – 19th February 2011

As you can see from the entries below the week started well again.  The fog on Thursday however heralded the, now predictable, end of week change from fine to wet weather with the working week ending on a damp note.  The forecast for the coming week is for a cold start to the week but becoming much milder as the week progresses.

(For any of you intending to visit the park over half term please be aware that Station Road is still closed at the railway bridge so come via Sheringham or Cromer not Sandy Lane).

17th February 2011

The sun has been and gone and today we have woken to fog.  Thankfully the weather held out long enough for Shaun to get the first ‘rough cut’ of the grass completed yesterday.

14th February 2011

A beautiful start to week with sunshine forecast for the next two days.

5th – 12th February 2011

The week started well with the first real sunshine of the year – things were looking up!  As the week progressed, however, things returned to form with the return of the damp conditions that have plagued us thus far this year.

8th February 2011

Sunshine at last and the first signs of Spring too!

6th February 2011

The wind last night was quite strong and this morning several fencing panels in Water Lane were down as was a tree.  For a while the road was partially blocked adding to the traffic chaos in village, as we await the completion of the work on the railway bridge on Station Road (which is due to be completed by March - anyone visiting the park in the meantime will need to do so via either Sheringham or Cromer on the A149).

Thankfully all is well on the caravan park.

15th – 22nd January, 22nd – 29th January & 29th January – 5th February 2011

The weather for the past three weeks has been more of the same – wet, breezy, damp, dank and very uninspiring.  We have had a little more variety this last week, compared with that experienced over the past month, with the addition of a few frosty mornings, the wind has also been much stronger and we have even had a spot of sunshine.  Overall 2011 so far has, however, been a rather overcast and grey affair.

8th – 15th January 2011

Another uninspiring week weather wise I’m afraid – in summary mild and damp.

The last of our new hire caravans arrived on Friday, too late in the day to be sited, so there will be plenty to do on Monday.

1st - 8th January 2011

The mild weather remained with us over the weekend and into Monday, however by Tuesday, the first working day of the year, temperatures once again fell – Happy New Year!

4th January 2011

Things didn’t look too promising for this morning’s Solar Eclipse with the sky full of cloud at 8.00 am.

An hour later things looked far more promising with the cloud thinning and providing us with some views of the Eclipse, over Incleborough Hill.
